Merry Christmas From TDA

November / December 2012

A few thoughts……

  • In November at the annual meeting your 2013 officers were elected and they are as follows:  President- Lydia Spears, Vice-President - Dena Wilson, Treasurer - Dana Rathbun, Secretary - Sally Lightner, Reporter - Theresa Puckett and Awards Committee – Dayle Haworth and Kay Allen.
  • Don’t forget to pay your 2013 dues! You can send them to Dana Rathbun at 1450 Donna Rd. Lewisburg, TN 37091. Dues are $15 per person and $5 for youth.
  •  December 29th is the TDA Holiday Party at Golden Corral - 3020 Mallory Ln, Franklin, TN 37067 beginning at 4 p.m.  We'll be playing "Dirty Santa" so all wishing to play bring a $10 gift (PER PERSON).
  • Kudos to Sandy Carroll for working with Horse Haven of TN in helping a 4 year old jennet in Shelbyville get rescued before the owner had her killed.  Sandy has taken this animal into her home and is going to work with her some so she can find her a forever home. TDA has offered some financial assistance.
  • The winner of the calendar cover for 2014 is Dena Wilson. Dena sold more 2013 calendars than anyone else, yea!! If you want to win the cover in 2015 just start taking orders now for the 2014 calendar.

  • As always keep an eye out for upcoming events in 2013 on the TDA events page:  http://www.tennessee-donkeys.com/Events.html .  2013 is chocked-full of exciting events already.  Check it out and more events are being added all the time.

National Drive Event

In October a group of TDA members traveled to the Kentucky Horse Park to attend the “National Drive Event”. There was a very strong presence of the longeared wonders at this event. TDA members in attendance were Dayle Haworth, Laura and Alton George, Lydia Spears, Brian and Theresa Puckett, Joyce Ridenhour and Dena Wilson along with seven of our donkey friends. The participants were able to drive anywhere in the park and were offered a number of different trails laid out each day. Each evening the Drive offered a social hour for the attendees giving them the chance to visit and talk about the day’s events.   All in all this was a fun event!

Valiant Diego - Another Versatility Award

HHAA Valiant Diego continues to earn his Versatility awards. Diego is Lydia Spears' "main man" at the farm, known as Mini Acres, in Hohenwald, TN. Lydia and Diego are hoping to win another High Point award this year in TDA's Show Awards Program, But the gelding competition has been extremely tough this year. Diego loves seeing all his "buddies" at the shows, but he really enjoys the trail drives more than competing.

Diego is just another prime example of how great a gelding can be!
